You should be making images of your drive reguarly just for such a case. If the backup process is retried, the error may not reoccur. I've never thought about that, but it makes sense. It was a very hard and sneaky malware virus that removed also bookmarks, phone numbers from my contacts in Hotmail, several files and explorer behavior. A miracle! (It should be around 15gb) If not, I think you're prolly SOL and should contact Dell about acquiring reinstallation/recovery Media... Good catch! If you pop in the cd, if your at default settings it should boot the cd to do a fresh install which should work but you'll lose everything you've put on
Or, if System Restore works for you but doesn’t fix your problem, you may not have any restore points created before the problem occurred.
