I clicked on "My Computer" which opened up the window for my "D-Drive" (my CD drive). 4. I had it restored from my up to date backup after my computer crashed. I plugged it in the usb port and it worked. Grabbed a an offline copy of the SYSTEM hive from my previous installation of Windows-7 (the backup in %systemroot%\System32\Config\RegBack has the same problem) Mounted it in my current copy (> reg http://meocloud.net/files-on/cd-burning-s-w-not-recognizing-cdrw.php I did take it to Kinkos where the man was able to open all the files.

I was able to read them on some computers but not others.
