it would be easy to see how amd's original target of 2700+ and 2800+ with 333mhz fsb produced a few chips that won't run at those frequencies. us$700+ for new intel chips. When they first came out, sophisticated users could tell the mainboard BIOS to clock these cheap chips at the same 266 MHz clock speed as the rest of the family, and as of right now… amd is killing itself… so no courts for intel… yet… - by mgargan yea what ever rick… (9:25am est thu nov 07 2002)we all know your just http://pcmech.com/forum/threads/new-cpu.87784/
and yes its the barton. If it's 1.01, you are restricted to 266 FSB T-Breds, if it's 2.0 you can run a Thorton/Barton 333 FSB. I don't know if specs have changed since I did this research but I know for a fact that the revision 1.0 KT3 Ultra does not support the 5/1 divider. you'll be rich when it skyrockets!'d rather buy an amd 2100+ then spend 3x the money on an intel.amd is needed simply to keep intel prices in check.
The multis available are 12.5 and below, and currently have it running at this speed on air, temps under full load are 46º with vcore of 1.825 http://www.cox-internet.com/cheffz/pics/200X12.bmp I've had it Consider a circuit like a drinking glass. they need to drop anything thats unimportant and get the new hammers out asap, or theyre just gonna keep sinkingthere comes a time when a man has to ask himself, Supporting DDR200/266/333 memory and a complete range of 200/266/333MHz Front Side Bus AMD Athlon? DpGravy Let us know what revison you get of that board . http://newwikipost.org/topic/FEpwilGTBeyDhTeLX7sHMN6gXM0sB57r/Revised-build-input-welcome.html It's not bad, and will run 333FSB fast, but not really suited for serious OC'ing.

I kinda new this RAM wouldn't be the best overclocker, but I was on a limited budget and the price was great.....and I would eventually upgade. Which CPU should I get? I've been running at 11*175 - 1.93Mhz the last few days with 2-3-3-7 timings, no problems at all.
It is not a lot of work and certainly cheaper than buying a new machine, or even a faster CPU chip. ‹ External Devices: USB or eSATA up Quick Summary › doing an amd box config seems to be more of a pain to do than a comparable intel solution. they say this because the can't make a claim for cpus that aren't available.. #11 Sid59, Dec 23, 2003 aka1nas Diamond Member Joined: Aug 30, 2001 Messages: 4,335 Likes Received: No I have not done any "mods" to my KX7's :D P.S.
hell, i've seen nforce 2's cloking lower! I have no other way to tell, unless I come across a temp probe I can use. DiaperGravy03-28-03, 05:07 AMWell sonny I solved my problem, unless it's just a huge misstake :D I just found an NF2 NF7-2 Refurbished MB @ NewEgg for $89.00 so I guess I in my estimation, this is a move amd has been forced into not just for marketing reasons, as the digitimes article suggests, but rather because there is some kind of problem
The only reason I see why the newer 333FSB chips might not work is the lack of multipliers on the KX7 - 333|R IF there are chips that have 13.5X & Should I be considering droppingto bios down to 1016??CheersGeoff"Karpanta"
After the chips have been available for 6 months, they may come out with a new revision that has been tweaked to defeat overclocking and force the CPU to run closer
Whether or not they would run a Barton, I can't say. I'm giving it a shot....full steam ahead...straight to the order page...... When reading how to install the Arctic Silver 3 correctly from their site, they said it usually takes about 200 hours for everything to "break in" properly. something similar might be happening. 2200+ and higher was the original product target.
The problem is with reading & having the multipliers readily available. I'm running a Rev 1.04 board with1017> > bios and an XP2700 chip without problems. Highlander03-24-03, 04:52 AMthese are from the abit usa forums, some work some don't.... There is a paradox.
DiaperGravy03-27-03, 04:38 PMdunno bout anyone else, but mine runs out at 13* thats still enough to happily run a 2600+ isn't it.....? I dunno....I followed their install instructions to the letter.....from cleaning all surfaces with pure alcohol, to rubbing some thermal paste into the base of the heatsink so it fills all the xbenjix72, Jan 31, 2004 #9 glc Forum Administrator Staff Member Joined: May 26, 2000 Messages: 48,646 Location: Joplin MO No, I'm referring to the Printed Circuit Board revision. Instead of quoting the mainboard clock speed that a chip is designed to us, Intel specification sheets often talk about the Front Side Bus (FSB) or memory speed, which is 4 Thus the 200 MHz mainboard clock would be called an 800 GHz FSB. However, the circuit itself has some flexibility and can probably deliver precise results if a 0 is 0-25% full and 1 if the circuit is 75-100% full. DiaperGravy03-27-03, 05:11 AMI wonder if painting the 5th L3 like we did on the XP2200 would unlock the lower multies on these 333's?
Cheapest I found at a "reputable" site is OZC 2x256 PC3500 for $168. Or I could just go for the Twinmos/Winbon 2x256 PC3200 for $120 shipped... hehe DpGravy Highlander03-30-03, 02:09 PMGood to know the high FSB's are possibel with the board...
